I am a fan of baking from scratch and that is what this blog stands for. I do not believe in cake boxes or brownie mixes because what is better than a cake made using pantry ingredients from start to finish? Nothing !
The Baking Journey
The journey began when I was a kid. I would get my hands on my mom's recipes diary creating mess in the kitchen trying different baking recipes. The love got only stronger with every passing day.
Baking is a deeply satisfying and therapeutic experience for me. It is so satisfying to bake something from start to finish and enjoy it with the family.
How was 'The Side Baker' Born?
Simply out of my love and passion for baking. After I am done with my demanding full-time job, I love spending time in my kitchen, making bakes, taking pictures and posting it here on the blog.
This blog helps me to document my baking journey and feature recipes I have created with so much love (and endless experiments) over the years. I also share recipes passed down to my by my mom and those I have learned from baking books.
Each and every recipe on this blog goes through several rounds of testing, adjustments and re-adjustments so that you do not have to worry about anything. Just pick a recipe and bake!

Some Common Questions
No, I haven't. I've acquired knowledge from my mom, friends, extensive travel experiences, and my extensive collection of baking and cooking books. I constantly experiment with recipes from these sources and have learned a great deal from them. In summary, I consider myself a self-taught baker and cook, lacking formal education in the field.
I am the photographer responsible for all the pictures on the blog, and I absolutely love it. The entire process, from arranging the food props to setting up the lights and capturing the images, is truly mesmerizing to me.
I use two Sony cameras for my photography: the primary Sony A7C camera for main shots and the secondary Sony ZV-1F camera for process shots. To illuminate my scenes, I rely on artificial light, specifically the Godox SL200 W II LED light. Additionally, I edit my pictures using Lightroom.

It's definitely not easy to manage a full-time job and run the Now Delish blog simultaneously. Both roles demand different skills, expectations, and goals, making it challenging to juggle between them. Feeling overwhelmed at times is completely natural. However, I'm incredibly grateful to have these talents and opportunities. Journalism is my passion, and baking is my love. I can't imagine doing anything else in life!
That's an intriguing question! The majority of my food prop collection comes from thrift stores, as I find the items there to be truly unique and priceless. I also enjoy scouring online stores for old and antique utensils. Occasionally, I can't resist picking up pieces from regular retail stores as well (regardless of the price tags). In short, I have a weakness for fine crockery and can't resist adding to my collection whenever I find something special.
